Pretty much works with any programming language!

  • the reason a language doesn’t really matter is because as long as you use something to generate HTML, CSS, JS files to send back over to the frontend, then it doesnt really matter what language you use to do that
  • most common languages + backend frameworks
    • java, java spring
    • ruby, ruby on rails
    • php, Laravel
    • c#, ASP.NET
    • python, Flask & Django
    • js, Node.js (runtime environment)+ with Express.js or another framework
  • Why do we need a framework? Why can’t we just choose a programming language and create your webserver from scratch?
    • when you’re cooking, you wouldn’t make a mayonnaise from scratch, but you’d rather buy one right?
    • a web framework provides prebuilt components + structures that can be used to build an application without the need for us to write every single line
  • we will be using node coz its a js backend framework
