  • How are women just ok with this??? Ever since I’ve realized it at like 10 ylo, literally the world was so annoying to me as a little girl
    • my then best friend (a girl) writing stories with a boy main character because she said girls cannot be main characters
    • a boy classmate during elementary saying that literally girls cannot play guitars or the base or the drums because there was no one he knows (it was a drawing assignment and i drew an all-girls group)
    • class laughing because a girl won a boy in rock scissor papers - the laughing point was that he “lost to a girl”
  • During all of these incidents, I think I was the only one mature enough because I remember I was the only one who voiced out, that doesn’t make sense literally? Who ㅣliterally GAF if a girl is the main character of a story? if a girl won in rock paper scissors? How is that something that’s not allowed or looked down upon? like everything just seemed so stupid & ridiculous lol
  • I also didn’t like the fact that for everything the “male” was the default and “female” was secondary
    • in language man represents the basic humanity, “wo”man is derived from the man, in job/careers an “actor” is a man, an “actress” (which converts the “default word to be a feminine term) is a woman.. even just looking at “he” and “she” lol. theres also so much more in the korean language
    • korean resident registration cards.. 1 is for a man, 2 is for a woman
    • in funerals or in every single korean tradition ever a man is the main caretaker/role (no matter the age, so if u are a woman who has a 10 years younger brother, he will naturally have that role) , and the woman basically has to do all the chores/cooking for the men. In korean cheusuk, the disparity is just ridiculous, and you can see that by looking at the shared sentiment among the women and those of the men - the men sit at tables eating good food, play games, drink, talk, while all women has to cook and serve and clean all day. like bro… what…☠️☠️☠️ aint no way I want to live a life like that☠️

church lol

  • I’ve always had beef with the church, especially with some verses from the bible, which would reappear again and again in sermons and in christian communities.
  • some things I remember
    • “wives obey their husbands, husbands love their wives” lmao. I actually hate this verse to my very core (like im allergic lmao) because wdym “obey their husbands”?? are they like their pets? lmaoo.. my pastor tried to explain this verse in a way that made it seem like this verse was to illustrate “mutual respect”, but… in the context when the bible was written idts lol, i bet that verse is written quite literally of how it was intended.
    • more things, there are no women disciples. ofc there are women in the bible but theyre either a) holy mary or 2) prostitutes. There is a severe lack of women representation IMO. It’s also been stated that one of the earliest believers of Jesus were women, but they didn’t prioritize women’s opinions/testaments so Jesus was known only after those of the mens’ were accepted.
    • In the church women cannot be in higher roles than the men (at least in my church).
    • the entire adam and eve story is just…
      • eve is created with adam’s rib to be a “helper” lol
      • it was eve, the woman, who ate the fruit and thus brought all sin and suffering to the world
      • ok so women, whose creation only means to be “helper of man”, is to blame for literally all sins and the bad in the world.. amazing
    • the story of how mary got pregnant with jesus
      • as a kid i didn’t really think much into it but as an adult… my god it would be terrifying if one day i was suddenly pregnant and had to birth a child. That would be just horrendous imo
    • my pastor once called all kids & teenagers, but ordered the girls to leave and only put the guys in the sermon room. i was like wtf? i remember being in the small room next to the big sermon with bunch of teens (all girls) and just wondering lol what? later my brother told me (who attended lmaooo) that the pastor talked about how men shouldn’t “lust” after women. I was at a loss for words because OK sure, sex education is good and all but what about for the girls?? Don’t girls also have sexual desires? Like I found it ridiculous that girls were treated as smth pure and “innocent” and that there was literally nothing for us lmaoo
    • Why is God a man? Society loves to treat women as beings that loves to nurture and love and takes care of children, literally we have the term “Mother nature”. But how is it that the literal creation of the world of all lives and nature and the sky and the earth and all human beings in male-form? One thing that I could think of is that since it was an all-male dominated world, I bet the men couldn’t handle submitting to a female form lmao God’s power was seen as “masculine” so ig the men just considered God as “male”. Personally, I think if God exists they will be beyond gender, and using he/him pronouns is just a byproduct of the male-centric societal norm.
  • The thing is, I understand that when readers of the Bible should understand the context + era of when the Bible was written, so probably ~2000 years ago lol, which i understand. The thing that irks me is when people get those verses & don’t understand context and take everything literally word by word
    • feminism - literally ive seen quite few people sticking to the ol verses that explicitly state some questionable opinions. For example, throughout the bible, the women being a “helper of man” is a common theme. I had a friend who is an ardent christian in high school - some context, in high school (which was very small) all of the high achievers were girls lol. Our teacher had to even scold the boys separately, saying “what is happening to you guys, plz be more like the girls”. It was quite funny, but that christian friend said smth that i could never forget (even after like 8 yrs) - she said that this seemed “unnatural”because women should be a helper of men since we’re just simply born to be like that. LIKE GIRL WHAT
    • lgbtq - ive had so many christian friends over the years.. and every single one of them ardently believes that being gay is a sin, and man and woman are simply meant to be together because they should reproduce & have kids. (even writing this is pain)
      • Like, I’ve had one friend who thinks that being gay is the worst sin (like, even worse than murder LMAO) just because in the Bible, it shows the city of Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed by God because they were practicing homosexuality… OK first of all the verses state that they “indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire”, and bunch of non-sexual sins like being arrogant/proud/refusing to help the needy, etc. ALSO there is this extremely ridiculous part where 2 “angels” come to Lot’s house (2 men), and when the mob demands to bring the guests out to “know” them (implied sexual intercourse), Lot offers his 2 virgin daughters… BRO… are we gonna talk this part or… 😭😭
      • Another friend who I know, is a bit better. While she believes that being gay is a sin, she doesn’t hate them or reprimand them & she will still accept them, because Jesus taught to hate the sin, not the person.. which i guess makes a little sense but still.
      • OK all of these,,, like.. what about for women who are barren? Since they can’t have kids, this must be a huge problem lol. Similarly, women who chooses to be childfree are frowned upon. What about homosexuality among animals, in which there have been numerous precedents?? also, if you’re talking “bad”, are we gonna compare the actual crime rate between the homosexual community vs the straight ppl or what? I know the number can’t be compared in size, but just look at all the sexual crimes and misogyny rampant in society.. just LOOK AROUND YOU
      • One argument i see among christians is that “if we allow homosexuality, then we will also start accepting other things as norms like pedophilia or zoophilia and more and more -“… Are we for real… So you believe that 2 same-sex adults having consent on the same level as committing an actual crime.
  • The point is, i think the bible is great way to learn common, passed down wisdom that humanity has gathered, like “respect your parents”, “love your neighbors”. I think the overarching main theme is love, and that is exactly what i think is the most important. The Bible’s like a guide book that kinda helps you navigate life, not some die-hard fact based book that you should take everything at face value & believe without second thought.
  • Like…this brings me to think about critical thinking too. Don’t accept everything at face value…
  • And ALSO… most of all, I feel like it’s just the humans that built all these constructs and social norms on top of the truth. Although I can’t say I’m Christian (I’m agnostic) I also feel sometimes that there is some higher force/universe that I can’t comprehend or control, and maybe that is my definition of God. who knows.
