• Webpages
    • So far, websites that only have a frontend are essentially webpages
    • they are bits of HTML that gets requested from the browser to our server, and the server returns that html file which gets rendered
  • Web applications
    • user should be able to do something beyond just allowing users to view webpages
    • ex. logging in
      • User enters web app and logs in
      • this info is passed to a server in a request
      • server then is able to find the application that knows how to handle the login (ex. login.js)
      • in this file there is some logic that knows how to log a user in… we can search a db, look for a particular email and get hold of the password for that email and compare
      • if the data match, we send back a response, in the form of a homepage
      • if data doesnt match, we give back an error
